Chairman's report
It was with great sorrow we learned of the death of Peter Phillips, and we would all like to extend our love and sympathy to Sheila and her
family. He was a familiar figure at all our activities, particularly wielding Sheila's vacuum cleaner whenever an efficient and experienced hand was required! Peter was a delightful gentleman and will be much missed. The new Committee have had their first meeting, and have allocated roles and responsibilities as follows:
Chair - Su Stedman
Secretary - Jayne Lindill Vice Chair - Sheila Phillips Treasurer - Susan Hawkes Youth Rep - David Wardle
Membership - Susan Hawkes and David Wardle Production Committee - Chair - Jayne Lindill, Sheila Phillips, Irene Tayler Wardrobe - Irene Tayler, Margaret Hutchings
Props - Alison Miller Maintenance - Roger Brookes
Newsletter - David Miller Website - Alison Miller
Publicity - Posters - current Director Newspapers - Jayne Lindill
Banners - Su Stedman and Jayne Lindill
Displays - Irene Tayler
Free newspapers - Su Stedman
We decided that we needed to identify and allocate responsibilities in more detail, hence the long list! We have established a substantial list of targets to be achieved. Of course, number one
is productions of a high quality, but a close second comes recruitment of new members. The membership is currently very low and we have a planned strategy for enlarging our numbers. We also realise that fundraising must
be a live issue in our forward planning. Our next Committee meeting is at FADOS House on Monday June 1st at 7.30. We will then wander over to The Half Moon Public House to soothe our fevered brows, and we would
be delighted if any of our members and friends drifted along to join us. Hopefully we will be there by 9.15! See you there? I recently put myself on the mailing list for BBC recordings and one has just
come through which people might find interesting. It's for a new topical sketch show which satirises important events of our age from global to local, and the entirely trivial. Hosted by comedian Miles
Jupp BBC Radio Theatre, Broadcasting House Sunday 31st May. Doors open 5.45. Also,Wed 17th and 24th June, and Wed 1st and 8th July. Doors open 7.15 pm. Maida Vale Studios Wed 15th
and 22nd July Doors open 7.15 pm. Either book for yourselves on BBC Tickets Website, or call on 0370 901 1227 OR Contact Su and see if we want to
make up a party. Tickets are free, but obviously travel isn't!! susan.stedman@sky.com

Youth Report
The next production has now been decided upon and the Licence applied for. Once this is confirmed, full details will follow in future Newsletter.
Meantime 15 of our youngsters took part in the Rotary Club's Annual Fun Run enjoying themselves immensely and raising valuable funds. There was also a cameo appearance by David Wardle, fresh if that's
anywhere near the right word from running the London Marathon in a highly-commendable five hours ( excluding comfort stops). Well done to all runners, young and young-at-heart. |
